Farm Animal Rescue and Rehoming Movement

Wetaskiwin, Alberta

Who are they?
F.A.R.R.M started as an initiative to help place the growing number of abandoned and unwanted potbelly pigs. Established in 2013 to meet this need, the F.A.R.R.M is a support network for these homeless, abused animals. After great success with that initiative and over 100 potbelly pigs rescued and rehomed in under a year, the movement continued to expand and F.A.R.R.M. was officially created. F.A.R.R.M. expands our reach to not only potbelly pigs, but also to other farm type animals that find themselves victims of the fad pet mentality or those that are valued only for the price of their flesh. F.A.R.R.M. sanctuary has been set up near Wetaskiwin, AB with facilities for surrendered and abused farm animals. We offer care and space for the sick and injured as well as an adoptions centre open for people to visit who may be interested in providing a compassionate home for animals with a less than honourable history. We live according to the values affirmed in a vegan lifestyle and encourage others to do the same. We love and care for all animals equally and pride ourselves in caring for anyone who needs our help.

Why do we love 'em?
They seek to enlarge the human capacity for compassion and justice for all living things.

Hope Lives Here

Edmonton, Alberta

Who are they?
Hope Lives Here (HLH) is a non-profit organization that is committed to rescuing abandoned, unwanted, and stray dogs. Starting with an idea resting with one individual, Hope Lives Here has progressively evolved to include a diverse range of initiatives. HLH is a shelterless organization so we rely on foster homes to rescue dogs. Unfortunately, for every dog we save, there are at-least 9 more requiring immediate rescue - without foster space we cannot rescue them. HLH's goal is to start a spay/neuter initiative within our target community to help curb the overpopulation of unwanted dogs.

Why do we love 'em?
They believe every dog deserves a second chance.
